Assessing Ecosystem Services Using the InVEST Model for Land Use Planning - Case Study of the American Electric Power ReCreation Lands, Ohio               

Having the capability to readily assess impacts and benefits to ecosystem services will allow for cost-effective and comprehensive assessments of land management decisions that take into account impacts and benefits to life-sustaining ecosystem services. As a pilot test of this approach EPRI developed a GIS tool using the Natural Capital Project's InVEST model for AEP ReCreation Lands in order to assess and minimize the potential impacts of shale gas production.
